In a joint operation by Bihar STF and Madhepura Police, on Friday, May 31, 2024, Pramod Yadav, a notorious wanted criminal with a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head, father late Jayanarayan Yadav, was killed in a police encounter. Pramod Yadav, a resident of Hatiaondha Sinduria Tola of Bihariganj police station area of Madhepura district, has a very long criminal history. More than 20 cases are registered against him in various police stations of Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura and Katihar Railway District. They include many serious crimes like murder, robbery, extortion, loot, Arms Act and attack on police. Also, he had a direct connection with Ranchi’s notorious gangster Aman Sahu and he used to shelter his henchmen.
Firing was done on the police team during the raid
Based on the secret information received by Bihar Police, the STF team had jointly raided with Madhepura Police to arrest the notorious criminal Pramod Yadav. On seeing the police, Pramod Yadav and his gang suddenly started firing, after which in retaliation, the gang leader Pramod Yadav was killed in an encounter with the police. A carbine, two pistols and several rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the spot. Senior police officials and FSL team have reached the spot and the case is being investigated thoroughly.
He used to carry out the incident by posing as a policeman himself
In January 2020, Pramod Yadav’s gang, armed with weapons, attacked a police team in the Dhamdaha police station area of Purnia district. In June of the same year, he came disguised as a policeman to illegally occupy land and shot Indradev of his own village Hathiaondha dead. In 2021, he, along with his accomplices, shot and killed Arun Kumar of Mojampatti village of Badhara police station area of Purnia district, who was the main witness in the murder of his wife.
